Project Description
Traffic flow on Interstate 25 from Bijou Street to Fillmore Street was especially
heavy, which caused frequent stalls and stops along the interstate.
The curves in this area of the interstate further slowed down traffic.
On- and off-ramps were not long enough to accommodate the backup of traffic.

Current Status
Construction complete.

Project Solutions
Installed noise barrier on the west side of I-25 to shield the surrounding
neighborhoods from the noise of construction and to mitigate the noise levels
from increased interstate traffic.
Straightened curved segments and provide longer on- and off-ramps.
Reconstructed the interstate to provide a wider median.
Reconstructed the Uintah and Fontanero interchanges.
Modified the on- and off-ramps at Fillmore Street.
Provided a landscaped buffer area between the noise barrier and the
westside neighborhood.
