Project Description
Traffic volumes on I-25 from Cimarron Street to Bijou Street are especially heavy and impacted by peak hour traffic volumes that cause further congestion. Because the interchanges were designed 40 years ago, they are inadequate for current and projected traffic volumes and do not meet the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) current design standards. The interstate on- and off-ramps at these interchanges are not adequate to accommodate the increase in traffic volumes.

Project Solutions
Construction of additional acceleration/deceleration lanes.
Improvements to the adjacent local street network in order to lessen traffic
congestion at the interstate on- and off-ramps.
Softening the curved sections of the interstate and improving sight-distances
between Cimarron Street/U.S. 24 and Bijou Street, thus improving driving
and safety conditions.
Reconstruction of the overpass bridges at Cimarron Street, Bijou Street and
associated bridges at Fountain and Monument Creeks.

Current Status
The proposed action has been selected and is being evaluated under the
Environmental Assessment (EA) of I-25
Schedule for preliminary and final design on hold pending EA.
