COSMIX Traffic Impacts - December 7 - through December 13, 2007 - Colorado Ave. West-bound Lane Closures - COLORADO SPRINGS (Friday, December 7) - COSMIX targets to close Colorado Avenue westbound lanes from Friday evening, Dec. 7 at 7:00 pm until Monday, Dec 10, at 5:30 am., in order to construct a manhole that needs to be located in the middle of the westbound lanes. During this time traffic will run head-to-head on the remaining two open lanes under the bridge. Drivers should consider using alternative routes.

Nighttime Closure: SB Off-Ramp Garden of Gods - COLORADO SPRINGS (Tuesday, Dec. 4) - COSMIX will close the southbound off-ramp to the Garden of the Gods this evening, Tuesday, Dec. 4th from midnight to 2:00 am. Closure will allow for work to create grooving on the concrete pavement. Grooving helps to drain water from the pavement, and makes the roadway less slippery. Overhead VMS signs will alert drivers of this short-term ramp closure. Drivers should use alternate routes.
Paving on Colorado Avenue - COSMIX crews are also planning work on Wednesday, December 5th, from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, on eastbound Colorado Avenue. Eastbound Colorado Avenue will have one lane closures during these off-peak hours in order to allow for final paving of the eastbound side.

COLORADO SPRINGS (Friday, November 30) - COSMIX will close two lanes of northbound I-25 in the area over north Nevada (Nevada Bridge) beginning Saturday evening, December 1st at 9:30 pm ongoing through 5:30 am Monday, December 3rd. This closure will reduce I-25 to one lane northbound through this section. Drivers should anticipate additional travel time through this area, and use alternate routes or dates of travel, as possible. Lane closure work involves cutting, replacement and repaving of existing concrete road panels. Overhead highway message boards will remind drivers of this closure.

COLORADO SPRINGS (Wednesday, November 28) - The COMIX project will close all eastbound lanes on Rockrimmon Boulevard on Thursday, November 29th from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Traffic will run head to head on the remaining open lanes. Flaggers and patrol officers will be on hand to direct traffic.

COLORADO SPRINGS (Sunday, November 17) - The COMIX project’s closure of two lanes of northbound I-25 between Mark Dabling/Rockrimmon and North Nevada Ave that had been scheduled for late Saturday to early Monday (Nov. 19th ) was postponed. Weekend drivers did not encounter reduced highway lanes through this section.

COLORADO SPRINGS (Friday, November 16) - COSMIX will close two lanes of northbound I-25 between Mark Dabling/Rockrimmon and North Nevada Ave beginning Saturday evening, November 17th at 8:30 pm ongoing through 5:30 am Monday morning, November 19th. This closure will reduce I-25 to one lane northbound through this section. Drivers should anticipate additional travel time through this area, and use alternate routes or dates of travel, as possible. COSMIX Traffic Impacts: - November 9 - through November 16, 2007 - COLORADO SPRINGS (Friday, November 9) - COSMIX will close one lane (left lane) of northbound I-25, between Cimarron and Bijou, on Saturday morning from 7:00 am - 10:00 am. At this time of year, paving must be done during daytime hours to meet minimum temperature specifications for pavement quality. Attendees of the Veterans Day Parade in Downtown Colorado Springs should note this northbound one lane closure, and please plan their travel time accordingly. Parade attendees using northbound I-25 may wish to use the Nevada/Tejon interchange to get into downtown.

On I-25 northbound, between Mark Dabling and the North Nevada on-ramp, two lanes will close on Saturday night November 10th from 8:30 pm to 5:30 am for pavement panel saw cutting. Please observe traffic control signs and posted speed limits.

COSMIX Traffic Impacts Update - November 5 through November 9, 2007 - Rockrimmon/Mark Dabling Intersection Open - COLORADO SPRINGS (Monday, November 5) - The Mark Dabling and Rockrimmon intersection has opened to one lane of traffic in each direction (north and south along Mark Dabling, and east and west along Rockrimmon), during AM and PM rush hours. However, between 8:30 am- 3:30 pm, flaggers will direct alternating traffic on a single, shared lane. Expect travel delays during these flagging operations, which will run through this week and possibly into next week (Nov, 12th). Motorists should use extra caution driving though this area, for their own safety and for the safety of the work crews. Those wanting to avoid this intersection should consider alternate routes. Access to all businesses remains open. Access to I-25 northbound from the frontage road is now open. The southbound I-25 on ramp is not yet open, but motorists may continue to use the southbound ramp at Rusina Road. Work to complete the second lane in each direction along Rockrimmon and Mark Dabling will continue through November.

COLORADO SPRINGS (Friday, November 2) - The Mark Dabling and Rockrimmon intersection will open to limited access beginning Monday morning, November 5th, barring any additional unforeseen problems. One lane and restricted movements will be in place, as work continues in the area. Progress has been hampered by utility conflicts and large areas of unstable soil that has delayed paving. Crews have been working to resolve the problems by aerating, amending, and re-compacting the soil to achieve proper standards. It is crucial to resolve the soil and compaction problems so that the paving can be a quality, longer- lasting surface. These problems are creating the need for the limited re-opening of the intersection and adjacent roads, and could create continued delays. (SEE ATTACHED DETOUR MAP FOR INFORMATION)

COLORADO SPRINGS (Monday, October 29) - The Rockrimmon/ Mark Dabling intersection closure has been extended four days due to unforeseen utility conflicts, including fiber optic, electric and water lines. The reopening is targeted for Monday, November 5th, prior to the early morning rush hour.

Mark Dabling/Rockrimmon Intersection Closure Through November 1st

• The Mark Dabling/Rockrimmon intersection is closed to traffic until November 1st.
• Extensive utility work, drainage, retaining wall construction, paving, and curb and gutter work are being completed.
• Business owners and residents who travel through the intersection regularly have a number of detour routes to choose from. All detour routes feature appropriate signage.

Police to Help Keep Trespassers Out of Bijou Construction Zone - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 31, 2007) – The COSMIX project is asking the Colorado Springs Police Department for help at keeping pedestrians and vehicles off the still-closed Bijou Street bridge.

COLORADO SPRINGS (Thursday, August 30, 2007) - COSMIX crews will take the Labor Day weekend off to minimize inconvenience to holiday travelers. Crews will return to work on Tuesday, September 4.

COSMIX Improves Access to Corporate Centre Dr., Nevada Ave.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 27, 2007) – COSMIX construction crews today opened major pieces of the new North Nevada/Rockrimmon interchange, completing the connection of Corporate Centre Drive to North Nevada Avenue and northbound Interstate 25.

Holiday Traffic Reaps Benefits of June Progress - 3 Lanes Open Between Fontanero and North Academy - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 3, 2007) – COSMIX construction crews have a gift for Colorado Springs before taking a break for the 4th of July. Motorists traveling I-25 today will find three lanes open both northbound and southbound from Fontanero Street to North Academy Boulevard.

COSMIX Minimizes Impacts for Weekend Motorcycle Rally - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.
